A newly spotted asteroid burned up harmlessly, as NASA predicted, in the Earth’s atmosphere over the Philippines on September 4.The asteroid would “create a fireball off the east coast of the northern Philippines,” NASA said.An observer with the Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona discovered the asteroid eight hours out from impact.
