Satellite Photos Capture Destruction in Gaza After Israeli Bombardment

Satellite imagery published on October 10 captured devastation in Gaza after Israel carried out multiple strikes between October 8 and 10 in response to a major assault led by Gaza’s governing organization, Hamas, on towns and cities in Israel.The images, released by Maxar Technologies, show various destroyed buildings including the al-Gharbi and al-Sousi mosques, the Watan Tower, and numerous unidentified buildings destroyed or damaged by strikes.On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they were carrying out hundreds of strikes across Gaza and released footage showing a strike on the al-Gharbi mosque, among other sites.That day, the IDF also confirmed a strike on a mosque in the Zeitoun neigborhood of Gaza they said was being used by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant organization.In an address on the day of the Hamas attack, October 7, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country was at war, that he had ordered the mobilization of Israel’s military reservists, and that Israel would return fire with a magnitude “that the enemy has not known.” Credit: Maxar via Storyful
