Visitors flocked to see Edinburgh Zoo’s giant pandas on Thursday, November 30, before the animals returned to China.Footage streamed by the zoo shows the animals in their enclosures with visitors flocking.Yang Guang and Tian Tian arrived at Edinburgh Zoo in December 2011 as part of a 10-year agreement which was extended due to COVID.Visitor access would be restricted from Thursday, Edinburgh Zoo said, amid preparations for the pandas’ journey home in early December.David Field, zoo chief executive, said: “Yang Guang and Tian Tian have had an incredible impact by inspiring millions of people to care about nature.”“Through scientific research by our expert veterinary and keeper teams, working alongside the University of Edinburgh, we have made a significant contribution to our understanding around giant panda fertility, husbandry, and veterinary care – which has been of real benefit to efforts to protect this amazing species in China," Field added.
