Five cubs were released on November 20 at separate locations near Pagosa Springs, after spending the summer at a rehabilitation center, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW)
said. The first three cubs, orphaned during the summer, were rescued by officers and taken to the Frisco Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Del Norte, where they joined 25 other cubs to “grow and socialize”.If they weigh over 60-70 pounds and show den-building ability, the CPW releases them.“The cubs do exactly what we want: they bolt away and show their natural fear of humans,” CPW
said.Of the 25 cubs rehabbed at Frisco Creek this year, eight have now been released, the CPW said. The others “aren’t fat enough yet,” they said. Credit: CPW SW Region via Storyful
