Satellite imagery from the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) showed the moment that Cyclone Garance made landfall on Reunion Island, a French department in the Indian Ocean, on Friday, February 28.At least three people were killed and thousands were left without drinking water and power because of the cyclone, France TV Info reported.The cyclone brought destructive wind gusts of up to 234 km/h (145 mph), large swells, and significant rain, according to the French weather service.
