Typhoon Bebinca made landfall in Shanghai, China, on Monday, September 16, with state-run media labeling it the “strongest” typhoon to hit the area in “over seven decades.”State-run media CGTN said that the typhoon made landfall around 7:30 am, tearing ashore in the Lingang area of Shanghai’s Pudong District with maximum wind speeds of 42 metres per second (94 mph) near its eye.According to the China Meteorological Administration, the typhoon was forecast to move northwestward, with its intensity expected to weaken through Monday night.Flood control measures were in place for the affected areas, the administration said.
