The UK reacts to the Hamas attack on Israel
Following the devastating terror attack on Israel by Palestinian militants over the Jewish sabbath, Rishi Sunak pledged to support the Israeli government’s right to self-defence in their escalating conflict with Hamas. Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf, whose wife is Palestinian, revealed that his parents-in-law are trapped in Gaza after visiting family in the region. A vigil for Israel was held outside of Downing Street on Monday night as concerns about a possible rise in antisemitic attacks begin to mount in the wake of the attack. Meanwhile hundreds also gathered in West London for a pro-Palestine demonstration close to the Israeli embassy, setting off flares and fireworks in Palestinian colours.
