Saint Patrick may have banished the snakes from Ireland, but it appears at least one was left behind, with a giant serpent discovered in a south Dublin park, just weeks ahead of the patron saint’s national holiday on March 17.Locals enjoying a walk in Shankill’s Shanganagh Park stumbled upon the unusual sight recently, with footage by Lauren Casey showing what she described as a “seven- to 10-foot python” lying near a bush.Casey told Storyful that she was walking with her dad when a man approached them and said that there was “a very large snake over there by the bushes.”Realizing the reptile’s head looked bloodied and that it was in fact dead, Casey went for a closer look. She described what she saw as “the most insane thing” she’d ever seen.Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council told Storyful that they received a report of a dead snake in the grounds of Shanganagh Park on February 16, and that a local wildlife rescue was able to help with its removal. The origin of the snake was not known, they said.
