Satellite imagery captured over December 10 and 11 shows what researchers described as a “fire hose of moisture” drenching large swaths of the northeastern United States.Timelapse video compiled by the Colorado-based Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) shows the storm system sweeping up from the Gulf of Mexico and passing over multiple states along the south and east coasts. The imagery was captured from 11 am Eastern Time on December 10 and 1:10 am on December 11, according to a timestamp on the video. The rain comes after months of “abnormally dry” conditions in the northeast,
according to researchers. Credit: CSU/CIRA & NOAA via Storyful
