Eric Clapton, Kurt Cobain guitars set for auction
STORY: Two iconic guitars are set to be auctioned and could fetch up to $2 million eachEric Clapton's 'The Fool' is a psychedelic painted guitar known for its unique soundIt was given to Clapton by The Beatles' George Harrison after his guitar was stolen[Martin Nolan, Founder, Julien's Auction]"George Harrison came to the rescue and gifted him The Fool guitar but of course, it wasn't painted as we know it today." "Clapton speaks about this guitar because it was the guitar he used to create the very famous woman tone that guitar players today try and recreate 50 years since then and this famous woman tone that was used and created on this particular guitar. So there's so many important elements woven into this guitar."The other guitar is Kurt Cobain's 'SkyStang I'Cobain played it during his final public performance on Nirvana's 'In Utero' tour"This is the same strings that Kurt Cobain used on the guitar the last time he used the guitar in Germany in 1994. And also what's great about this is the guitar strap is original to the guitar and Kurt hated corporate sponsorship and corporate branding, so the name Fender was under this and he put black tape over it so that people wouldn't see the name of the strap or the guitar that he's playing."The auction also features Cobain's cardigan, jeans, and a pack of cigarettes "The jeans you can see, we have photographs photo matched of Kurt performing with these jeans. Estimated 10 to 20,000 for the jeans, 2 to 3000 for the cardigan. So the last time that Kurt went to rehab, he left these items behind, including a pack of cigarettes, that's also in the auction."Over 1,000 items will be auctioned at Nashville's Hard Rock Cafe from November 16-18
