The footage also shows the weapons collected at the center.According to news reports, the centre in Damascus opened days ago for “former soldiers, officers, policemen, clerks, and units who served under the Assad regime.”International press has reported on similar centers around the country, established after the new government, headed by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group, called on those with links to the regime to hand over IDs, and any weapons they had.An official told the North Press Agency: “Each person receives a document and a serial number upon registration. Their data, along with any standard-issue equipment they may still possess, is sent to the corresponding office. After review, the individual is informed of a specific date to return and receive their updated civil ID card.” Credit: Obada Jbara via Storyful
