Perth Zoo’s last remaining female elephant, Permai, arrived in South Australia on Tuesday, January 28, as she neared the end of her mammoth journey to Monarto Safari Park, east of Adelaide.Footage provided by Perth Zoo shows Permai’s journey, with the elephant receiving snacks of peanut butter sandwiches and watermelon slices as she travelled across Australia.Perth Zoo said their VIE (Very Important Elephant) was travelling well and on track to be at Monarto Safari Park by Wednesday.According to the zoo, a team of handlers were accompanying the elephant on her “jumbo journey”, taking turns driving the 2,700 km (1,677 miles) to Monarto.
