Members of the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, wished former president and Navy veteran Jimmy Carter a happy birthday on Tuesday, October 1, as Carter reached 100 years of age.Footage posted to Facebook by the academy shows a choir singing Happy Birthday, a collection of photos of Carter in his Navy days, and various staff and members congratulating and thanking the president, who became a prodigious philanthropist after leaving office.“The Naval Academy wishes a very happy 100th birthday to President James Earl Carter, Jr., USNA Class of 1947, and 39th President and Commander in Chief,” the academy wrote.Carter served as a submarine officer in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets, and completed graduate work in reactor technology and nuclear physics, according to the post.On Tuesday, Carter spent his birthday surrounded by family and friends at his home in Plains, Georgia, local media
