Protesters broke into an Israeli army base on July 29, after nine soldiers were
arrested over the alleged abuse of Palestinian detainees, the Times of Israel
reported.Footage captured by local journalist Ariel Idan shows protesters rattling the base’s gate. Other
footage online showed protesters entering the base.
IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi
said: “The incident of breaking into the Sde Teiman base is extremely serious and against the law. Breaking into a military base and disturbing the order there is serious behavior that is not acceptable in any way. We are at war, and actions of this kind endanger the security of the country.”Later in the day, protesters broke into another base, Beit Lid, the Times of Israel
said.The soldiers were expected to attend a military court hearing on Tuesday, the Times of Israel
