James Kingston Scales Eiffel Tower Without Using Ropes
A British man has filmed himself climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower without any safety ropes and then posted the video on YouTube.
The dramatic footage showed James Kingston and a friend scaling the side of the Paris structure late at night before hiding for several hours to evade security guards who had spotted them.
He said when the guards went away the pair "played around on the tower" for a few more hours where they saw workers and tourists coming up in lifts.
Mr Kingston, who has previously climbed Wembley Stadium and the second tallest building in Dubai, the Princess Tower, said they were spotted again by security around 9am and then climbed down where they were arrested by police.
The 25-year-old from Romsey, Hampshire, said after six hours in custody he was released without charge and on condition he does not climb the world famous landmark again for three years.
