arrested 28 people including New York Rep Jamaal Bowman during a protest outside the Capitol building advocating for the passage of the
John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the
Freedom to Vote Act.Democrats said the two bills will make it easier for all Americans to vote and reverse efforts of limiting ballot access.Footage filmed by Markus Batchelor shows Rep Bowman’s arrest during the Hunger Strike For Democracy rally to “protect voting rights, end political gerrymandering, and get dark money out of politics,” according to their
website.“There is a battle for the ballot box and we can’t watch it from the sidelines, Rep Bowman
posted on Twitter. “Organizers did their jobs. Now it’s time for the Senate to do its job.”
