A pilot and co-pilot were killed when a private plane crashed upon landing at San Fernando International Airport north of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday, December 18, according to local reports, citing officials.According to La Nacion, the country’s airport authority, Aeropuertos Argentina, said a Bombardier Challenger 300 aircraft was returning from a trip to Punta del Este but was unable to brake after landing, causing it to veer off the runway, smash through a perimeter fence, and into a line of houses where it crashed and caused an explosion.Footage from Jessica Jacqueline Baez, who said the plane crashed two houses down from her own, shows local residents watching as flames engulfed the wreckage and firefighters responded. The deceased crew members were identified in Argentinian reports as Martin Fernandez Loza (46) and Agustin Orforte (35). No other occupants were on board.Reports said the aircraft belonged to Jorge Brito, the owner of Banco Macro and president of the River Plate soccer club, whose own father, also named Jorge Brito, was killed in a helicopter crash in 2020.
