Two hikers were rescued from the mountains near Capileira, Spain, on Saturday, March 8, after they were caught in
a winter storm, according to the Spanish Guardia Civil.Both hikers were 23 years old, according to
local news reports and they didn’t have adequate equipment for the storm.Guardia Civil’s mountain rescue group, GREIM, sent five agents to rescue the pair, another
outlet reported.One of the hikers was showing signs of hypothermia and frostbite and had to be taken to safety on a sled stretcher, the report said. The other hiker was able to walk with the rescue team.Once they reached Capileira, the hikers were transported to a medical center. The rescue took six hours because of the storm, Guardia Civil said.
