A Peruvian police officer donned a capybara costume as part of an anti-drug trafficking operation’s “camouflage strategy”, capturing a suspected drug dealer red-handed, authorities
said on February 14.Footage released by police shows the bizarre scenes as the costumed officer holds a Valentine’s Day gift outside the home of a suspected drug dealer in Lurin. The capybara officer then charges into the home when the door is opened and pins the man down before he’s arrested.Police said they discovered 1,700 packages of cocaine and marijuana during the raid. The officer is later seen posing wearing the outfit alongside the suspect and the narcotics.The same unit has previously carried out arrests of a similar nature. In 2024, a police officer
