An Irish politician has been labelled “a disgrace” and “a fucking asshole” for raising in parliament the gender of another parliamentarian’s child.Danny Healy-Rae, a TD, or member of the Irish Dail, made the comments about the child of another TD, Paul Murphy, during a debate about the country’s Finance Bill.During an argument about which members of the house had voted for certain taxes, Healy-Rae turned to Murphy and said, “What do you know? Sure, you don’t know if your own baby is a boy or a girl!”In an interview, Murphy the Irish Times he and his partner would not be gendering their child, saying, “We’re not gendering it. So we’re not describing Juniper as a boy, we’re describing Juniper as a baby, but it is male.”He added that they would be using the pronoun “they” for the child.Healy-Rae’s comments caused uproar in parliament.According to local reports here. and here, Murphy responded by telling Healy-Rae to “fuck off”, calling him “a fucking asshole.”A voice can be heard in this footage calling Healy-Rae “a fucking asshole.”Healy-Rae responds: “Well, it is the truth. He told it loud.
