Firefighters continued to battle wildfires on Wednesday, February 12, in Argentina’s Corrientes province, where more than 250,000 hectares (more than 950 square miles) of land were
reported to have been burned since the start of the year.On Tuesday, the Corrientes government
said at least eight fires were still burning in the province, and eight others had been extinguished.Ground crews and water-dropping aircraft were “working tirelessly to combat the active fires,” the government
said.Local officials expressed hope that rains forecast for Wednesday and Thursday would bring relief to the hardest-hit areas, according to
