At least two people were found dead after a three-alarm fire tore through two buildings in the Bronx on Wednesday morning, February 12, according to the New York City Fire Department (FDNY).The blaze broke out in a pair of buildings on Anthony Avenue, near the corner of East 180th Street in the Tremont section of the Bronx, that house a Thai
Buddhist temple.“More than 40 fire and EMS units and 150 fire and EMS personnel” responded to the scene, the
FDNY said.Chief of Department John Esposito added that firefighters were hindered by a vehicle left parked in front of the fire hydrant closest to the buildings. “We’ve seen that now a couple of times in the last week,” Esposito said. “We all know that we should not be parking on fire hydrants and when you park on fire hydrants, it slows us down. When we’re fighting a fire, seconds count.”The American Red Cross and emergency management officials were assisting displaced residents, the fire department said. The cause of the fire was under investigation. Credit: FDNY via Storyful
