A man has been given a suspended sentence after being found guilty of pursuing in an “aggressive and dangerous” manner a coach carrying over 80 children last year, Essex Police said.According to a police statement, the incident occurred on March 25, 2024, near Chelmsford.Police said that as the coach and a BMW exited the Army and Navy Roundabout toward Sandon, the BMW clipped the curb after getting trapped between the coach and the roadside. The driver, later identified as Clint Hydes, then started pursuing the coach.Footage released by Essex Police shows the coach driver diverting the bus to protect passengers, but Hydes suddenly brakes to a stop on a dual carriageway, nearly causing a crash, police said.The video then shows Hydes reversing to rejoin the slip road and continue his pursuit.The coach driver pulled into a layby and called 999, police said. When officers arrived, Hydes had again reversed against traffic and parked beside the bus, claiming he wanted the driver’s insurance details.Upon Roads Policing Unit officers’ arrival, Hydes was arrested and later sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for a year.
