Deputies Rescue Giant Sunfish Stuck on Florida Beach

A Volusia Sheriff’s Office deputy came to the rescue of a giant sunfish that was stuck on a beach on February 3.Footage here was published by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, and shows Deputy Ric Urquhart coming to help the mola mola, or ocean sunfish.The heaviest of all the bony fish, the sunfish can weigh 2.5 tons and grow to be 11 feet long, according to National Geographic.In the video, Urquhart is heard saying “this thing’s heavy”, and describes its skin as “like sandpaper.”He’s seen tying a rope around the fish and pulling it along with another deputy, finally managing to move the fish.
