A total of 64 skiers were rescued from a broken chairlift in Franconia, New Hampshire, on February 5, after a mechanical issue brought the lift to a halt.Footage recorded by Jeffrey Giangregorio at Cannon Mountain shows him and other skiers being evacuated, with Giangregorio telling Storyful that they were “hoisted down with a harness and rope.”In a statement, Cannon Mountain said the failure was caused by a bolt affixed to the power take-off shaft.“While all chairlifts and equipment at Cannon undergo regular inspection and testing, mechanical issues can occasionally occur,” they said.
