excessive heat to rescue a man who was stuck in an eight-foot-deep trench in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 5.The construction worker had fallen into the trench at the back of a hillside home in Los Feliz and was surrounded by soil
above his waist when rescue crews arrived at the scene.Dozens of firefighters worked for hours in
dangerously hot conditions to free him.The man was taken to hospital in
serious condition but was ‘conscious and alert’,
