Ice cover on Lake Michigan has been increasing lately after a slow start, and is now nearing the historical average for this time of year.According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the ice cover of Lake Michigan has been steadily increasing since the beginning of the year.Footage from Nathan Voytovick of Nate’s Dronography shows the frozen shores in New Buffalo on Thursday evening.For the millions of people living near the shores of the Great Lakes, increasing ice coverage should bring some relief from lake-effect snow.The National Weather Service said another blast of “Arctic air” would bring bitter wind chills to the region into early next week.
