The west-central coast of Florida braced for the impact of
another major hurricane as
Milton neared landfall on Tuesday, October 8.Satellite footage from the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) shows lightning flashing in the eye of the storm swirling in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday.“Milton is once again an intensifying storm,” CIRA said.As of Tuesday afternoon, the storm was carrying 155 mph maximum sustained winds and was located approximately 520 miles (840 km) southwest of Tampa, according to the National Hurricane Center
(NHC).The storm was expected to make landfall along the west-central coast of Florida on Wednesday night, per the
