Police came to the rescue of a man who had gotten stuck in chest-high mud after trying to save his dog in Smithtown, New York, on Thursday, January 30.Stump Pond, where the incident occurred, had been drained during a summer storm, leaving behind a vast stretch of exposed mud, according to News12 Long Island.Police were able to locate the 24-year-old man with the aid of a helicopter, News12 Long Island reported.
