Polar orbiting satellites have tracked the world’s largest iceberg since it broke free in Antarctica’s Weddell Sea in early November 2023.Known as A23a, the iceberg had been grounded on the sea floor since shortly after it calved from the Filchner Ice Shelf in August 1986, according to the British Antarctic Survey, but began drifting last year.Satellite imagery released by CIRA shows the 40-mile-wide iceberg’s journey over the course of a year.
