US President Donald Trump pardoned disgraced former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich on February 10, after Blagojevich served eight years in prison on corruption charges until Trump commuted his 14-year sentence in 2020.“It’s my honor to do it. I’ve watched him. He was set up by a lot of bad people,” Trump said in footage shared online by his deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino.According to news reports, Blagojevich was removed from office in 2009 and was later convicted of corruption charges, including attempted extortion of a children’s hospital for campaign contributions and trying to sell former President Barack Obama’s Senate seat after he was elected President.The former governor began serving a 14-year prison sentence in 2012, which Trump commuted in February 2020.
