A marine biologist diving near the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia, could not resist taking a selfie with a highly venomous blue-ringed octopus – whose bite can be
lethal to humans – when she spotted the beautiful nocturnal creature.Biologist Sheree Marris told Storyful that “despite its fearsome reputation, [it is] actually quite shy and will usually try to escape at any given opportunity. So I respectfully kept my distance while I was filming.”The video shows the diver dunking into the background as the deadly octopus moves closer to the camera. She said that she was surprised by the sighting, as blue-ringed octopus are generally nocturnal creatures “coming out of their lairs at night to hunt.”“Seeing this deadly jewel during the day was a treat!” she said.Based on the Mornington Peninsula, Sheree Marris is a marine biologist who regularly documents the local marine life for her
