A woman died on February 3 after being pulled from the water in a dramatic Coast Guard intervention near the San Juan Islands, Washington, where a disabled sailboat ran aground in rough weather.The 31-foot sailboat, carrying the woman and a 56-year-old man, was caught in snowy conditions, high winds, and rough seas when it lost power and began drifting toward shore, the US Coast Guard Pacific Northwest (USCG) said.As rescuers arrived, the sailboat ran aground, and its mast collapsed. A rescue swimmer was lowered and retrieved the man.The woman was found in the water and brought aboard the rescue boat, where CPR was performed.
