Dramatic footage published by Metropolitan Police shows the moment police tackled a shoplifter on an electric scooter on February 1.Officers had noticed “a man wanted for a string of thefts […] acting suspiciously” before he entered a convenience store.Police carried “out a carefully coordinated sting to arrest the offender,” tackling him as he attempted to leave the scene on an electric scooter with stolen meat.According to police, 44-year-old Gavin Fonti was charged with six counts of theft and sentenced to 20 weeks in prison.The arrest was part of a four day long operation aimed at arresting “persistent offenders” at “the 15 worst affected shops across” Barnet.
