A driver was caught on camera ignoring a road closure before reversing into a road worker and driving off in Derbyshire, England, on May 13, 2024, newly released footage showed.John Leonard Muckle drove past closure signs while potholes were being fixed in Locko Lane in Hardstoft, according to Derbyshire County Council.After he failed to pass a truck ahead, he tried to go around the other side of the vehicle and as he did so, knocked the worker off the road and into the bushes.On 22 January, Muckle was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and banned from driving for a year.Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Highways Assets and Transport, Councillor Charlotte Cupit, said “This incident was really shocking and showed a lack of concern for our workers, who are doing a valuable job and doing everything they can to repair our roads.” Credit: Derbyshire County Council via Storyful
