Yellowstone National Park began its
intensive snow-clearing process on Monday, March 3, to be ready to welcome visitors with “regular vehicles” in the spring.Numerous roads were
closed in the Wyoming part of the park to let operators perform their work.Footage shared by the national park shows a bison pop up as crews are working on clearing the way using large snowplows and snowmobiles.“Each winter, we spend about three months grooming 180 miles of the park road so people can tour the park by snowmobiles and snowcoach,” the park
said.Yellowstone receives up to 10 feet of snow each winter in some areas.“Combined with the grooming and oversnow travel, the snow on the road becomes packed so hard that traditional plowing doesn’t work very well,” according to the park.Yellowstone’s roads begin opening to “regular vehicles” starting the third Friday of April, and the park opens completely on Memorial Day weekend, according to its
