Dramatic video captured by a hunter and nature photographer shows two female deer engaged in a fierce battle in snow-covered woods in Wisconsin’s Monroe County. The footage was posted on December 23 by Aiden Duneman, who said he had never “seen a doe fight get this intense,” nor heard a doe “make the noises these two did.”“These two had some unsettled beef to sort out,” Duneman suggested.According to US wildlife officials and deer experts, female deer do not fight as often as males, but do “establish a pecking order and display aggressive behavior,” usually to assert domain in areas that are safe for raising young or have a good supply of food.“Since they don’t have antlers, they use their front feet to determine their dominance. If the preliminary body-language threats are not effective, the dominant doe lunges at her adversary and then strikes out with one or both front feet,” according to Texas Parks & Wildlife. “As a last resort, the fighting does stand up on their hind legs and slash out at each other with both front feet.” Credit: Aiden Duneman via Storyful
