Residents took sleds to the streets in Alabama’s Morgan County on Tuesday, January 16, after a winter storm swept across the Tennessee Valley and left roads covered in ice and snow.The frigid conditions and icy roads prompted authorities in the City of Hartselle to suspend non-essential services, while schools across Morgan County were closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.This video of people sledding was posted by the Morgan County Sheriff’s office, who said its drone unit filmed it while surveying snow and ice in Hartselle.On Tuesday, officials in Hartselle warned residents to avoid the roads, as almost all of them were covered in solid ice. Conditions hadn’t improved much on Wednesday morning, with roads remaining icy and slick, with “extremely dangerous clear or black ice” in some areas, the sheriffs office said.
