Lake-effect snow warnings were in effect for parts of New York on Saturday, January 4, as a winter storm threatened to drop up to 30 inches of snow southeast of Lake Ontario, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.Footage shared by the New York State Department of Transportation shows conditions on Route 5 near Elbridge in Onondaga County, west of Syracuse.The NWS said additional snow accumulations between 8 and 16 inches were possible for the area through Sunday afternoon, with winds gusting as high as 35 mph.“Travel could be very difficult to impossible within heaviest snow bands.
