Thousands were left without drinking water and electricity as Cyclone Garance made landfall on Reunion Island, a French department in the Indian Ocean, on Friday, February 28, France TV Info reported.The cyclone brought destructive wind gusts of up to 234 km/h (145 mph), large swells, and significant rain, according to the French weather service.France TV Info reported that 145,000 customers were without electricity, with more than 82,000 people, about 10 percent of the population, without access to drinking water.The eye of the cyclone was expected to cross the island on Friday and wind gusts would remain into Saturday.Footage here was posted by X user @habibi_azz and described as Saint Pierre, located on the south of the island.
