US Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz laughed as crowds chanted “we’re not eating cats” during a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Thursday, September 12.The crowd’s chants about cats were in reference to unsubstantiated rumors about immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, that were brought up by Donald Trump during his TV debate with Kamala Harris.Walz took a swipe at Trump over his remarks at the debate, telling the rally “he said a lot of weird stuff.”“You tell me you had this on your bingo card… they’re eating cats?” he asked the crowd.“We’re not eating cats, we’re not eating cats,” the crowd chanted in reply.“It would be funnier if it wasn’t so dangerous,” Walz said.Walz also thanked his “fellow cat owner, Taylor Swift,” who publicly endorsed Kamala Harris after the presidential debate.“Vice president Harris and I couldn’t be more excited to have her support.” he said.
