Mount Shishaldin in Alaska’s Aleutian Islands erupted on Tuesday, October 3, spewing gases and ashes into the sky.The United States Geological Survey
said the eruption had ended but low-level ash emissions from volcanic flow were still possible.The eruption sent sulfur dioxide, a
pollutant, into the atmosphere, the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (
