Goose With Head for Heights Taken Back to Safer Altitude by Mountain Ranger

A goose found high on the slopes of the 14,000 ft Mt Shasta in California’s Cascade Mountains was rescued and returned to a local pond by rangers, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest said on January 12.Mt Shasta is a steep-sided stratovolcano located about 60 miles north of Redding along the I-5 corridor in Northern California.Shasta-Trinity National Forest said rangers Nick Meyers and Eric Falconer were out on a routine patrol in December when they discovered the intrepid goose.“Rangers gave the goose a quick descent to a local pond at lower elevations before returning to regular duties,” the agency said.It is unclear whether the goose summited the mountain before its rescue.
