Hawaii’s Kilauea caldera entered “episode 7” of its ongoing eruption on Monday, January 27, sending lava as high as 120 feet in the air, according to a report from the US Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.The observatory said the episode, located at Kilauea’s Halemaumau crater, began at 6:41 pm local time on Monday. By 7:40 pm, fountains between 100 and 120 feet high were seen ejecting from the north vent, and lava covered between 15 and 20 percent of the crater floor.Video livestreamed by EpicLava from a nearby location shows lava spewing from the volcano shortly after 8 pm local time on Monday night.
