A woman in Grand Junction, Tennessee, recently surveyed what was left of her childhood home after it was destroyed in a devastating electrical fire.Footage filmed by Khalie Watkins shows the fire on January 11 and process of combing through the remains of her childhood home on January 13 and 14. Watkins said she not only lost precious belongings to the fire, but also her pet lizard.Watkins told Storyful she was processing “raw” emotions of “sadness, shock, trauma, and disbelief” in the aftermath of the fire.“This event has been deeply challenging, and I’m grateful for opportunities like this to share my story and shed light on the struggles many face in rebuilding and moving forward after such devastation,” Watkins said, referencing the recent wildfires in California.Over the past two years, Watkins told Storyful she used TikTok to document her effort to improve her “neglected and heavily infested” childhood home into a “clean, livable space” through cleaning and redecoration.
