Governor Ron DeSantis said Florida does not welcome the conduct of Andrew and Tristan Tate when the brothers
arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Thursday, February 27, after leaving Romania. The Tate brothers were previously banned from leaving Romania after being arrested there in 2022. They were charged with human trafficking, rape, money laundering, and “starting an organized crime group,” according to
reports. They have denied the allegations.DeSantis was speaking at Camp Blanding in Starke when a reporter asked him whether Andrew Tate was welcome in the state.“We have no involvement in that. I read about it through the media. Clearly the federal government has jurisdiction whether they want to rebuff his entry into the United States,” DeSantis said.He added that Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier was looking at what jurisdiction Florida may have to deal with the arrival of the brothers.“The reality is no, Florida is not a place where you’re welcome with that type of conduct,” DeSantis said, and reiterated that he was not involved or notified about their travels to the state.
