A lost dog was rescued by a concerned motorist after being spotted running along a freeway in El Paso, Texas, dramatic footage taken at around 3 am on Wednesday, February 26, shows.Luis Vargas told Storyful he saw the pup while heading home from work in the early hours of Wednesday. At first, he thought he saw a tire rolling on the freeway in the distance.Turning on his hazard lights to get a better look, he realized it was actually a dog. Vargas followed the pooch from behind to ensure no other cars hit her. He then pulled ahead, got out of his car, and started whistling to coax the dog toward him.“Holy s***, they almost crashed into it,” he says in the video.Vargas brought the dog home and later shared his video with the Instagram account @therealfitfamelpaso, asking the public if anyone recognized the lost pet.The next morning, Vargas woke up to the dog’s owners at his door, ready to take their pet home, he said.Commenters on the viral video referred to Vargas as a “hero” and praised him for risking his own life to save the dog.
