Authorities have thanked a “good Samaritan” who helped chase down a prolific car thief during a chase through Denver, Colorado, in March 2023, releasing the footage now after “the matter was resolved in court”.The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said its helicopter had tracked James McDonald through the streets of Denver for about an hour until he crashed a stolen Ford-150 into another vehicle, after which he was chased by Johan Sebastian Eslava-Osorio, who held him down until police officers arrived.McDonald began a crime spree on March 11, 2023, stealing a red Ford-150 after he had test driven it. He went on to steal an RV motorhome, weapons, and a black Ford-150 - the vehicle he eventually crashed.The chase began after an officer spotted McDonald driving the stolen F-150 and attempted to stop him, the sheriff’s office said.McDonald was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the aggravated auto theft.
