Several people were rescued by Queensland Fire and Rescue on Sunday, February 2, as parts of North Queensland were flooded or cut off after more than six months’ worth of rain fell in three days.Footage from Queensland Fire and Rescue shows a rescue operation at a flooded home in Cape Cleveland.On Monday morning, the service said nine people were rescued and 50 assisted over the course of the previous 24 hours.On Monday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the federal government and Queensland Government had activated emergency funding for residents and councils in areas impacted by the floods.Flooding was likely to continue this week, as the Bureau of Meteorology reissued a severe weather warning for heavy rain.
