Strong winds and dry conditions fueled wildfires burning in southern and central Chile over the weekend into Monday, February 10, as evacuations were ordered, officials
said.The national director of Senapred (the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service), Alicia Cebrian,
said that 22 wildfires were active in the country as of Monday morning, with 13 in the southern region of Araucania, where temperatures of over 104 degrees Farenhait (40 degrees Celsius) and strong winds were recorded.At least one person was killed over the weekend, Cebrian
